Join us for a unique tasting with Ted and Lorraine Kane, owners of Oliver's River Stone Estate Winery! Those of you on our September bus tour last year will remember the pretty hike through the vineyard at River Stone winery – and the yummy wines we tasted that day, too! This year, instead of us visiting them, Ted and Lorraine will be here in Vancouver, and they’re bringing along some real treats for us to try – including a six-year vertical of their Bordeaux-style blend, Corner Stone. Both Ted and Lorraine have medical backgrounds – he was a respiratory therapist and she is a doctor. They met while working in the University of Alberta Hospital. Even then, Ted had a dream of owning a vineyard and making wine. Fast forward several years, and the dream is now a reality. Ted says, “Our philosophy in the vineyard is 'mother nature runs the show' and the best approach for success is to work with her in all aspects. We believe that the vines should be in balance to achieve the best possible fruit in a given growing season and not all years will be the same; each will have its own challenges.” Want to spend some time at River Stone? They have a cottage you can rent! Sounds like the perfect vacation location for wine lovers. And if you enjoy their wines, look into joining the River Stone Wine Club: sign up, and make sure you don’t miss any of your favourites. Wines being poured for the BCWAS include: 2015 Sauvignon Blanc 2015 Pinot Gris 2015 Malbec Rose 2014 Merlot 2014 Malbec 2014 Cabernet Franc 2009-2014 Corner Stone Signature Red Blend What a great line-up! There’s something for everyone here – and we are just thrilled to try the vertical.
