OUR EVENTS IN 2020

FEBRUARY 2020

Australian Side by Side
The Australian Wine Appreciation Society graciously reached out to BCWAS last year to arrange a friendly dinner with AWAS, featuring wines from both BC and Australia. BCWAS enthusiastically agreed, and we have been working together on the details since then.

Members from both Societies attended.  Each Society came up with one wine per course.  These wines are all currently available in the local marketplace, so this event afforded  us the ability to taste some really great wines and then add our favorites to our cellar!

Hosted by the
Listel Hotel with food prepared by the attached, acclaimed Forage Restaurant, the four course menu began with reception sparkling to take us on a homegrown journey from sea to land. We are very grateful for the excellent pairing menu that Executive Chef Welbert Choi has created for us all - no small challenge given the ten different wines to be kept in mind! Our BCWAS cellar master focused on sourcing wines from across the province, representing five different sub-appellations including Vancouver Island and Lillooet, plus the Okanagan, Thompson, and Similkameen Valleys. Not only did the wines represent a cross-section of BC, but all were highly acclaimed, award-winning selections still available for sale!

BC Wine Chat
What is #BCWineChat? BC Wine Chat is a Twitter chat, held every Wednesday night from 8-9 pm.  Each week, a different wine-related topic is discussed. Interested in wine? Have a Twitter handle? Join #BCWineChat on Wednesdays!

What was this event? We hosted a fun, walk-around wine tasting featuring some fabulous wines from a selection of BC’s top wineries. Attendees to this event with Twitter handles were encouraged to tweet about the wines and maybe meet some fellow tweeps “IRL” – In Real Life.

What was included? A selection of wines from 14 wineries, a selection of appetizers, a chance to meet and chat with winery owners and representatives, and time to hang out with fellow wine lovers in a beautiful, artistic space!

Best of all, proceeds from this event benefit the BC Hospitality Foundation :)
